The European Researchers’ Night Event which took place in Liguria on September 25th was a great success. The event, promoted by the European Commission, each year involves thousands of researchers and research institutions across Europe to spread popular science and allow the general public to discover science while having fun through dozens of events and shows.

Genoa, La Spezia and Albenga hosted the event with demonstrations, meetings and celebrations held in places of great beauty and historical significance: the Porto Antico (the old historical port of Genoa), the Port of la Spezia and the old town centre in Albenga.

The theme of the Ligurian Night was “Researchers change the world” and involved participants of any age, origin and cultural background, boys and girls, teen girls and women, who, in particular, were the protagonists of the events, in a party to the beat of music, where they had the opportunity to live the research experience and applaud theatrical performances on science themes.

Experiments, workshops, encounters with mathematicians, talks with naturalists, physicists, geologists, astronomers, observation of stars and of sea animals, contests, sports, skill, imagination and costume competitions, cooking tests, theatre performances and concerts planned and proposed by researchers, nanotechnologists, architects, biologists, chemists, archaeologists, mechanical and robotics engineers, all made the Researchers' Night an unforgettable experience for everyone.

During the Event the Ele.C.Tra Project was presented to the public at the Porto Antico, with demonstration of innovative solutions to reduce CO2 emissions thanks, among other things, new ways of alternative mobility, for example electric scooters.

The event was coordinated by the Museum of Ligurian Archaeology and the Natural History Museum in Genoa, together with the Municipality and the University of Genoa, the National Research Council, the Italian Institute of Technology, the Liguria District of Marine Technology (DLTM), the District of Integrated Intelligent Systems (SIIT), the Festival of Science Association, the Delfino Literary Garden and many associate partners.
