The regional event entitled „Successful EU projects: Simple and easily applicable measures for a sustainable future“ was held on December 11, 2015 at the Zagreb City Tribina. The seminar was held as part of the project Ele.C.Tra, which is co-financed by the IEE program and implemented by the City of Zagreb City Office for energy, environment and sustainable development, as partner. The seminar was attended by the representatives of the cities Bjelovar, Sisak, Ivanicgrad, Velika Gorica and Varazdin.

The meeting was initiated by an introductory speech by Mr Marko Kucan of the City Office for energy, environment and sustainable development, who stressed the importance of electromobility in reaching the 20-20-20 goals and reducing the exhaust fumes in cities. Mr Kucan also held a presentation of the Ele.C.Tra project where he specifically stressed the importance of promoting a new model of sustainable urban mobility through the introduction of a sharing system or renting electrical scooters and e-light vehicles. The presentation also featured the results of non-pilot cities and the possibilities of implementing a similar model in Zagreb. The city representatives expressed interest for the project and its application in their own cities and paid great interest to the presentation by Mr Damir Cancarevic from Zagrebholding on the manner of cooperation on the project.

Mr Cancarevic spoke about the filling stations for e-light vehicles that have been implemented in five Zagreb garages. he has also explained the method of use for the said filling stations and how they can contribute to the development of electromobility in Zagreb. The participants also had a chance to hear the presentation of Mr Robert Fabek from the Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar who presented the Feasibility Study for the transfer of the Ele.C.Tra model to the City of Zagreb. The study describes the existing state and gives several possible scenarios for the introduction of the scooter sharing system in the city as well as an analysis of profitability, which allowed the representatives of other cities a more detailed insight into the challenges, but also numerous benefits of implementing a scooter sharing system in the cities.

The participants on the seminar were also given the opportunity to hear more about the project EURONET50/50MAX, which works on implementing simple measures in schools that allows for saving energy, while at the same time educating the students on the issues of energy and environment.

The meeting was adjourned by the representatives' expression of interest for cooperation on future projects and support of the idea for achieving energy savings through the use of simple, but innovative measures. The seminar can be considered great success, as in its aftermath, two letters of understanding have been received from two cities that participated at the event.
