On September 16, at the Bcnecologia headquarters, in Barcelona, was held the 2nd National Support Group Meeting. Representatives of Administrations, civil society and companies in the sector, came with the intention to give its point of view on mobility and on the implementation of a service of sharing of electric motorcycles in the city of Barcelona.

The meeting was raised in a dynamic way, with a short presentation to attendees of what it was Ele.C.Tra project and a brief resume of the conclusions of the first National Support Group Meeting, which took place also in Barcelona in April 2014. Precisely those conclusions served as the starting point for a debate in which attendees said their impressions about how the scenario has changed during this period of time.

The representatives explained several measures that have helped encourage this type of mobility: subsidies on the purchase of vehicles from these features, support for the installation of domestic charging points, exemption from payment of tolls for this kind of vehicles or acquisition of electric motorcycles for the municipal police. Reality differs between Barcelona and Murcia, where efforts are still mainly focused to publicize this type of mobility to the general public.

The experience of the sharing services of electric motorcycles in Barcelona, one of the Ele.C.Tra main issues, was also commented. While the first company that started this business venture seems to have ceased to offer this service, the autumn will bring news about this of a new company. In this sense, there were also curiosity about how is working the sharing of electric bicycle that the Barcelona City Council of Barcelona is testing.

Attendees agreed that the implementation of electric mobility among motorcycles is being slower than it was imagined in city like Barcelona, with so many motorbikes. Several reasons that may explain this fact were exposed and attendees suggested ideas that could help to go faster.

Either way, all agreed that sooner or later electric mobility will end up succeeding, also among motorcycles. As one attendee summed up, the current moment is as follows: electric motorcycle of property is for believers, business fleets of electric motorcycles are becoming a reality and, perhaps, this is the time in which the motosharing will be a boom.
